Gordon Summers is a senior natural gas and energy professional with over thirty five years of international industrial and commercial experience spanning senior management (Director and Vice-President level), operations, new business identification and development, governance, planning and strategy.
Much of this time was spent with Shell, where he built considerable experience in the Middle East, South Asia and the Asia Pacific regions. High value, world-scale energy (mainly liquefied natural gas - LNG) project development, joint venture negotiation and business management were constant themes. He had major, senior-level interaction with customers, joint venture partners and government entities in the USA, UK, Netherlands, Algeria, Oman, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, India, Japan and Australia.
He also held full bottom line responsibility for Shell’s former coal business in Australia.
More recently, Gordon’s emphasis has been providing consulting services for new natural gas project and strategy development. Clients to date in the UK, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Portugal and the USA have included a major hedge fund, one of the largest independent LNG shipping companies, a major regional oil and gas company in continental Europe and international legal and consulting firms.
He is also a visiting lecturer and Fellow of the Energy Delta Institute, the leading energy business school in The Netherlands and has recently been a funding assessor for the UK Government Technologies Strategy Board. He has been Chairman of the Advisory Board of the University of Birmingham Institute for Energy Research and Policy and an Advisory Board Member of King’s College London Business Limited.
